Meet The Team
Jeff Bennett is a research engineer experienced in the areas of energy system modeling, mechanical engineering, and life cycle assessment. His PhD research focused on evaluating the role of emerging energy technologies in reducing the environmental impact of electricity generation. He has evaluated technologies such as supercritical carbon dioxide power cycles, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage, compressed air energy storage, and distributed electric grids.
Before getting his PhD from the University of Virginia, he spent 4.5 years working as a Research Engineer in the Rotating Machinery department at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas. Jeff holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, a joint M.Sc. in Turbomachinery Aerodynamics from the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and University of Liège (Belgium), and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Jeff is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
