Jeff Bennett

Director of Life Cycle Assessment

Jeff Bennett is the Director of Life Cycle Assessment. He is experienced in the areas of life cycle assessment, energy system modeling, and mechanical engineering. His Ph.D. research focused on evaluating the role of emerging energy technologies in reducing the environmental impact of electricity generation. He has evaluated technologies such as supercritical carbon dioxide power cycles, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage, compressed air energy storage, and distributed electric grids.

Before getting his PhD from the University of Virginia, he spent 4.5 years working as a Research Engineer in the Rotating Machinery department at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas. Jeff holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, a joint M.Sc. in Turbomachinery Aerodynamics from the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and University of Liège (Belgium), and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Jeff is Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCACP), and a LEED Green Associate. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
