πππβπα΄Ύα΄Ώα΄Ό Presentation at GHGT-16
Later this month, researchers at Carbon Solutions will be giving four presentations at the 16th Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies Conference (GHGT-16) in Lyon, France. During the next two weeks, we will be highlighting those upcoming talks. The first one will be on the latest developments with our site screening tool, πππβπα΄Ύα΄Ώα΄Ό, βBeam Me Up πππβπα΄Ύα΄Ώα΄Ό: A Comparison to the FE/NETL CO2 Saline Storage Cost Model and Updates on Tool Development.β
The first half of the talk will focus on a comparison of πππβπα΄Ύα΄Ώα΄Ό and FE/NETLβs CO2 Saline Storage Cost (CSSC) model. We compared the underlying methodologies of πππβπα΄Ύα΄Ώα΄Ό and CSSC, and then applied each to the same set of geology data from the Northwest United States. We found that CSSC cost estimates were several times higher than πππβπα΄Ύα΄Ώα΄Ό.
The second half of the presentation highlights updates to πππβπα΄Ύα΄Ώα΄Ό. In the last year, πππβπα΄Ύα΄Ώα΄Ό has undergone a complete overhaul. Users now have access to a refined input geology dataset for the United States. Further, the underlying model has been recreated, so that estimates more realistically represent COβ injection. Finally, the tool has been rewritten in Julia to improve processing time.
