In 2009, U.S. President Barack Obama and China’s President Hu Jintao announced the formation of the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center as a flagship bilateral initiative to advance clean energy technologies. As part of that initiative, Carbon Solutions’ co-founders Middleton and Ellett spent the past decade working with China’s top scientists and engineers to figure out how CCUS technologies could help decarbonize the world’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions—China’s coal-fired power sector. We are pleased to announce that our national-scale assessment of CCUS deployment was recently published in the Journal Environmental Science and Technology. It has been an honor and privilege to work with lead author Dr. Wei Ning and many other distinguished experts on this critically important work.
