Next week, researchers at Carbon Solutions will be giving four presentations at the 16^th Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies Conference (GHGT-16) in Lyon, France. The fourth talk is entitled, “Reaching zero: Pathways to decarbonize the US electricity system with CCS.”

This presentation focuses on carbon capture and storage (CCS) retrofit opportunities for natural gas combined cycle and pulverized coal power plants. In the talk, we present the effect of geology and policy on CCS pipeline build-outs. Results show under a range of assumptions,  pipeline network build-out tends toward regional storage instead of national trunklines.
