The ideal candidate for this position has familiarity with the energy sector and experience in community outreach, such as facilitating listening sessions, conducting qualitative interviews, creating stakeholder maps, or explaining technical project details to a broad audience. The candidate will also have some experience in managing grant-related activities to track progress on engagement and outreach, and interest or experience in grant writing activities. Outreach will primarily focus on managing community engagement related to ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ด๐˜† ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€ such as CO2 capture and storage (CCS), direct air capture (DAC), hydrogen, renewable energy (geothermal, wind, solar), and energy equity and environmental justice.

Energy applications include CO2 capture and storage (CCS), direct air capture (DAC), hydrogen, geothermal energy, wind energy, energy storage, and energy equity & environmental justice. We use a range of data analytics and other technical approaches including infrastructure optimization, GIScience, life cycle assessment (LCA), technoeconomic assessment (TEA), reservoir simulation, machine learning, policy analysis, and community engagement. The company is fully remote with approximately 35 staff working across the United States.

Job Description: Community & Engagement Coordinator (Fully Remote)

The Early-to-Mid ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐›๐จ๐ง ๐Œ๐š๐ง๐š๐ ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ & ๐„๐ง๐ ๐š๐ ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐‚๐จ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐จ๐ซ position will be part of a multidisciplinary team both supporting and leading research and projects focused on a range of energy challenges, with a key emphasis on understanding how projects impact and benefit communities, workforce development, and energy equity and justice. The role will be responsible for establishing and managing ongoing relationships with project partners, such as local community or municipal agencies, as well as translating highly technical scientific information for diverse audiences. We are looking for candidates who are energized by and have experience in speaking to a wide variety of audiences, including tribal communities, scientists, community members, industrial partners, and educators. More senior candidates will be expected to lead and manage projects and future proposals.

Examples of existing projects and proposal areas that the candidates could support or lead include:

  • Develop landscape briefs of existing community needs and assets to create initial stakeholder maps.
  • Recruit community members to participate in engagement events, such as webinars.
  • Host and facilitate community meetings and webinars.
  • Develop creative solutions to engage communities in new and emerging energy technologies.
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including but not limited to phone calls, remote meetings, in-person meetings and newsletters.
  • Find, support, and/or lead grants related to community engagement.
  • Submit reports on the progress of outreach programs.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Degree Expectations: At least a bachelorโ€™s degree in a range of fields, such as communication, public policy, engineering, science, economics, or geography.
  • Experience: At least three years of full-time experience in conducting outreach with a variety of stakeholders. At least one year of experience in grant-writing activities.
  • Exceptional Organization: The candidate must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Exceptional Communicator: Excellent presentation, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with CCS and other energy applications including DAC, hydrogen, geothermal energy, wind energy, energy storage, and/or energy equity & environmental justice.
  • A major or minor in a science, energy, or engineering-related discipline.
  • Experience with newsletter software, Adobe InDesign, and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Experience planning, writing, and submitting proposals to state or federal agencies.
  • Experience creating progress reports aligned to awarded grants.

Compensation/Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $70kโ€“$110k, depending on experience.
  • 401k retirement plan with company contributions.
