Class VI Well Services

Developing a CO2 injection site in the United States requires getting an EPA Class VI Well permit. A major consideration for the Class VI Well Permit application is determining the Area of Review or AoR. The AoR represents the pressure front of the CO2 plume which is important for predicting interference with Underground Sources of Drinking Water (USDW). To predict the AoR, the EPA prefers applicants use the numerical tool STOMP (Simulation of Transport Over Multiple Phases). Carbon Solutions LLC has the expertise to:

  • Develop detailed 3D STOMP models for Class VI Well Applications
  • Perform initial CO2 plume estimates using SCO2TPRO
  • Create intermediate radial STOMP models for a refined estimate of the AoR
  • Map the AoR and nearby USDWs
  • Support Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) plan development
