Optimizing CCS Infrastructure for China’s Steel Sector Using SIMCCS

This month’s webinar features Yuancheng Lin of Tsinghua University and Carl Talsma of Carbon Solutions, who will present a preliminary assessment of CO₂ capture, transport, and storage opportunities for China’s steel sector. The study uses SIMCCS, Carbon Solutions’ geospatial optimization software, to conduct a nationwide source-sink matching and infrastructure cost analysis—providing early engineering insights for large-scale CCS deployment. The presentation will also explore regional disparities in cost, storage potential, and the role of GIS in planning efficient CO₂ pipeline networks.

The European Union to Invest Significantly in Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure Projects

The European Union is investing over €1.2 billion in cross-border energy infrastructure projects, with €258 million allocated for CO₂ storage initiatives.

LOCAETA Listening Session

At a 𝐿𝑂𝐶𝐴𝐸𝑇𝐴 listening session in Denver, where kids were present, we introduced coloring pages as a simple way to illustrate the air pollutant co-benefits of carbon capture, electrification, and fuel switching. While they were designed as a fun visual for that event, we thought they would be worth sharing more broadly.
